Alongside the changes taking shape across our studio spaces, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes on something just as important: making 1 Cardale Park a genuinely greener place to work.
Biodiversity in our green spaces
Our grounds are becoming more than just a pleasant outlook. We’ve partnered with Horticap, a local charity and garden education centre based at Bluecoat Wood Nurseries, Harrogate (just up the road!!) to develop the green areas around the site. Horticap provides adults with learning disabilities training in horticulture and rural skills, and their team is now helping us shape our wooded areas to attract more birds, bees and butterflies — turning our green spaces into a genuine haven for local wildlife, not just a backdrop.
Moving away from gas
We have removed gas entirely from the building, both for heating and for hot water. This is a significant step in reducing our environmental footprint and moving 1 Cardale Park towards a fully electric, more sustainable future.
Expanding EV charging
Electric vehicle charging points are already available on site for our tenants and visitors, and we’re actively looking at how we can increase this provision as demand grows — supporting the shift towards greener commuting for everyone based here.
A close eye on energy use
None of this works without keeping a close watch on how the building actually performs day to day. We’re focusing heavily on our energy usage, actively identifying and addressing any leaks or areas of waste, so that the energy we do use is being used efficiently and nothing is going to waste unnecessarily.
These changes sit alongside the wider redevelopment across the site — including the merger of Studio Offices 31 and 32 (soon to include Studio 30) into a new all-in-one space, and the latest additions to The Dales Suite: Dentdale, Lonsdale and Bishopsdale. More on those soon.
